Beeston Road Club AGM

Wednesday 11th March 2026 – The Metro Cafe, Beeston.

Minutes

Chairman’s Introduction

Mick Hart was unable to attend so Gary Clegg chaired the meeting.

Secretary’s Report

Gary presented the secretary’s report outlining club activities and events, details of which are as follows:

The Summer Social Rides were well attended in 2025. They remain very popular with the core of club riders that attend regularly. The summer social rides will continue to run weekly in the summer of 2026. In addition to the Wednesday evening rides,  Kev and Zillah Turner started a steadier Tuesday evening ride, these have continued on alternate Saturdays through the winter after the nights drew in. The steadier rides will continue in 2026 on Tuesday evenings as posted on the club social media platforms.

The Sunday club runs have maintained their popularity and are well attended.

Breeze Rides – Zillah has continued the Breeze Rides with greatr success.

The Presidents Run

Two Presidents Runs took place in 2025. The rides will be run again in 2026.

Social Events

The club held a Christmas meal at The Lagan Indian Tapas restaurant in Beeston, it was fairly well attended and a good night. A curry night was held at The Cottage Balti in Beeston, also well attended.

Membership – The club has a membership of 55 paid up members (including  5 life members).

Treasurer’s Report

Zillah Turner presented the treasurer’s report.

The club is in a good financial state so there is no need to increase the subs for 2026.

Go-Ride report

Louise presented a report of the Go-Ride section.

Election of officers.

Roles up for election:

Chairman

Secretary

President

Welfare Officer

As most club members know the President and Treasurer, Mike Davis sadly passed away on the 4th February. The position of President has been temporarily suspended until a new President can be elected.

Mick Hart stated before the 2025 AGM that he didn’t think it fair for him to continue as Chairman as he can no longer realistically contribute to the club due to on going health issues. In view of this the club needs to elect a new Chairman. No suitable candidate has been found and so Gary Clegg will deputize as acting Chairman until a new chair person is elected.

Gary Clegg stood again for Secretary. - Was re-elected

Zillah Turner has taken on the role of Treasurer, following the passing of Mike Davis

Natalie Walters has taken the role of Welfare Officer, The Go Ride Secretary and Covid Officer.

A new role of Club Development and Operations Officer has been created. Caitlyn Beardsmore has already carried out a lot of work towards club progression and advancement and will continue in the role.

Time Trials

It is thought that no club members rode in the evening time trials in 2025. It is believed that Ilkeston CC, Nottingham Clarion and VC Long Eaton still run TT events but no details were available..

Other Rides/Activities 2026

Kev and Zillah Turner are looking to organise a weekend gravel ride in 2026. Details will be posted on the club’s social media.

A weekend ride to Skegness has been suggested,, hopefully open to all members including the Go Ride Section. This will pose some logistical problems but hopefully these can be surmounted and the ride can go ahead.

New Club Kit

Various items of the new club kit were available for purchase on the night and there is still a good amount of stock. Paid up members can purchase a short sleeve summer jersey at the discount price of £20.

AOB

There was no prize presentation this year apart from that of joint club person of the year which was awarded to Caitlyn Beardsmore and Ellie Keetley

Meeting closed at 9pm.
